Eagles Stop Chiefs' Three-Peat Dream with a Dominant 40-22 Victory in Super Bowl 2025

Baby, let me tell you, that Super Bowl was all about the Eagles showing up and showing out. They came in strong, took down the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22, and snatched that second Super Bowl title like it was nothing. Not only that, but they stopped the Chiefs from making history with a three-peat, and that’s major.

Now, don’t get it twisted, this second Super Bowl matchup didn’t have the same edge as the first, but the Eagles were still handling business. Jalen Hurts? That man was unstoppable. He threw two touchdowns and ran for another one, and Jake Elliott was out there making field goals look easy, hitting four of 'em.

Hurts racked up 221 passing yards and led the team in rushing with 72 yards. Sure, he threw one interception early on, but he still earned that Super Bowl MVP title because he was ballin’.

This was redemption for the Eagles. Folks had been questioning them all season, saying they didn’t have the chemistry under Coach Nick Siriani. But they silenced all the haters with this win. Siriani was all smiles after the game, talking about how they came together and played their best. He said, "That's a great football team, and we had to come out and play our best, and we did." He even added, "... Let's run this back." And I’m here for it.

The Eagles came out swinging! They started things off midway through the first quarter with Jalen Hurts breaking through for a rushing touchdown using that "tush push" play, putting them up 7-0. Then, Jake Elliott came through with a 48-yard field goal in the second quarter to extend the lead to 10-0.

And that’s when it all went down. Mahomes tried to make a play but threw an interception that rookie cornerback Cooper DeJean returned for a 38-yard touchdown—on his birthday, no less! Talk about a celebration!

Then, just before halftime, Mahomes threw another pick, this time to linebacker Zack Baun deep in Chiefs territory. That set up a 12-yard touchdown catch by A.J. Brown, putting the Eagles up 24-0.

Elliott added a 27-yard field goal in the third quarter, and when the Chiefs couldn’t convert on fourth down, Hurts went to work, hitting Devontae Smith with a 46-yard touchdown pass to make it 34-0. At that point, it was clear—the Chiefs had no answers.

Mahomes and his squad finally managed to score late in the third quarter with a 24-yard touchdown to Xavier Worthy, but by then, it was already too little, too late. The Chiefs scored a couple of garbage-time touchdowns, but the game was in the bag for Philly.

This was only the Eagles' second Lombardi Trophy, their first since 2018 when backup quarterback Nick Foles led them to a shocking Super Bowl win against Tom Brady's Patriots in Super Bowl LII. History made, again.
